Flying Into Night

"Yesterday’s time at the museum [the American Museum of Natural History's exhibition on the life and work of Charles Darwin], a temple of science in which evidence and honest inquiry rule, was inspiring. But today I will board a plane back toward my neighboring state, Kansas, where the proponents of 'intelligent design' are on the march."

"And I have the sense of flying home toward darkness … of flying into night."

Kansas City Star columnist Charles Gusewelle.
